Obedient Plant by Doug Sherman
Doug Sherman is one of the finest photographers of the tallgrass prairie. The rich colors and elegant composition of his close-ups have been featured in Sierra Club, Audubon, Barnes and Noble, and Arizona Highways. He has also been a regular contributor to Chicago Wilderness magazine.
Doug is a retired professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences. His initial reason for taking photographs was to illustrate his lectures. Subsequently, over one thousand of his images have been published in geology textbooks, lab manuals, videodiscs, and CD’s.
Doug's says: "The reason I like shooting at Somme Prairie Grove is because of the tremendous diversity of plants and the constant change of blooming plants throughout the seasons. These two elements result in ever changing colors and textures which provide a multitude of photographic opportunities. It is truly a magnificent place to photograph especially if you are interested in rare plants."
